So here are the two recipes I promised in the previous post about why marshmallows are essential for a kid’s theme party.
Marshmallow Topped Cones with A Fizzy Sherbet Filling
Quick and easy to make and sure to be a hit at any kid’s theme party.
Fizzy Sherbet:
260g (500ml) icing sugar
12.5 ml tartaric or citric acid
12,5 ml bicarbonate of soda
24 ice cream cones
Topping:
1 packet (500 g) marshmallows
100′s and 1000′s
To make:
Sift the ingredients together in a large bowl and mix well. Repeat twice. Fill each cone with about 15 ml of the fizzy sherbet. Melt 10 marshmallows at full power for about 50 seconds or until soft. Stir well, spoon some of the melted marshmallows on top of the fizzy sherbet and sprinkle immediate with 100′s and 1000′s. Repeat until you have the desired number of filled cones.
Marshmallow Popcorn balls
200 g (250 ml) plain popcorn, popped
500 g pink marshmallows
90 ml (90 g) butter
1 packet (80g) raspberry, cherry or strawberry flavoured jelly powder (Jell O)
To make:
Make the popcorn in a large saucepan over medium heat, place in a large bowl once popped.
Put the marshmallows in a saucepan together with 6 tablespoons (90 ml) butter or margarine and place on stove over low heat. Stir continuously with a wooden spoon to prevent burning. Add the dry jelly powder and stir until blended.
Pour the mixture over the popcorn and continue to stir to ensure that the popcorn is evenly coated. Leave to cool to room temperature. Butter your hands and form the popcorn mix into balls. You can wrap the balls in cellophane or form the balls around wooden skewers.
Have fun planning your kid’s theme party
