If you are on a tight budget when planning your kid’s theme party, you really have to look no further than the bread bin in your kitchen.

Bread is one of those foods that lends itself to wonderful party snacks with a little imagination.

Here is a quick tip to turn sliced bread (white or brown) into savoury. crispy bread fingers by creaming 100 g margarine with a tablespoon (15 ml) of savoury spread like Marmite, Bovril or Vegemite until light and fluffy. Put aside and make another creamy mixture with 200g margarine and a packet (48 g) of white onion soup powder.

Cut of the edges of each slice of bread, spread with the Marmite mixture and then with the onion soup powder mixture. Sprinkle a little seasoning on top, cut each slice into 5 fingers.

Bake +- 2 hours in a pre-heated oven of 90 degrees C (200 degrees F) until dry and crispy.

Tip: Try different kinds of soup powders or add finely grated cheese and dried herbs of choice to the margarine.

Remember to have fun when you plan your kid’s next theme party!
