I realised today that time is passing me by too quickly! It is the eve of Easter weekend and maybe I was suppose to give you lots of ideas for Easter Parties for your kid…
Then again, I think my kids theme parties site evolved into something different than I started out with. Sometimes these things take on a life of their own and what originally started out as a site that was supposed to provide party themes for kids, changed into a recipe site, a craft site, ideas for invitations…. and many more.
So if your kid has a party this weekend you maybe do not need any advice or tips from me anymore. But on the other hand, a party lasts an hour or two and then you have the rest of the weekend to come up with something nice for the family after they have finished the left-overs from the party.
Why not rope in the whole family to make your own Easter Eggs. After all, Easter is a time to spend with the family and to strengthen family ties and reflect on all the good things we have in our lives everyday even when we do not realise it in our busy schedules.
Here is my recipe to make your own Easter Eggs:
Beat 125 g soft butter, 5 ml salt and 10 ml vanilla essence. Add one small can of condensed milk and 730 g icing sugar, stir with a spoon until combined. Knead mixture to form a smooth paste.
Add yellow food coloring to one third of the paste. Roll into small balls and cover with the white paste to form eggs. Set aside for 24 hours to harden. Dip into melted chocolate and leave until chocolate is set.
You can decorate the eggs by mixing one egg white with enough icing sugar to make a thick substance. Divide into three or four parts and use two drops of food coloring for each color. Mix thoroughly to form a thick, but not stiff mixture.
Spoon into a cake decorating set or make a quick and easy icing bag by snipping of the corner of a small plastic bag, spoon the icing sugar into the bag and push it towards the corner where you have snipped the hole, then decorate to your heart’s desire.
I must admit… I took this recipe fromĀ a post I’ve done way back in 2007 on my ezi-edible-gifts blog… it made me realise again how quickly time goes by but also how traditions are started by trying new recipes or ideas and adapt it to suit our family’s needs.
Here’s some other “fun stuff” I posted in this period and that can be used this Easter weekend again… you can click on the images or the captions to take you to the actual posts…

It’s late, I have to get some sleep, but my wish for you this Easter Weekend is to enjoy the time you spend with your family, especially theĀ children, they are precious, treasure them and hold them close to your hearts!
Have a wonderful Easter Weekend!!!

So that’s how marbled eggs are done. Thanks. No wonder they look shiny. Their shells were removed. I thought they were painted that’s why they look like that. I didn’t know they were that easy to make. Too late for Easter alright but thanks for the tip still. I love really creative ideas.
